CrossFit Virilis September Member of the Month: Jim Fiore!!

We are so excited to announce Jim as our August member of the month. It's inspiring to hear about someone like Jim, who combines strength and gentleness, family values, and a pursuit of excellence. His multifaceted nature makes him a well-rounded and captivating individual, and he likely serves as an inspiration to those who have the privilege of knowing him. We are excited to feature him this month!

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

I have been doing CrossFit on and off since 2016. CrossFit Virilis has been the first box where I have been the most consistent in my training.

What's your favorite workout?

This is a tough question as each workout is pretty fun. Being a Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, I do prefer Fight Gone Bad, but every workout feels like Fight Gone Bad to me.

What's your favorite movement?

My favorite movement would be the one I took from scaled to RX. I am currently enjoying hitting more DU’s, bettering my squat depth, having more T-spine mobility for any overhead movement.

Why do you do CrossFit?

Going to a regular gym just sucks, I do not have to plan my workouts, I just show up, and go! It is the most time efficient training to maximize one’s capacity for movement and performance.

What meal could you eat every day for the rest of your life?

Tacos, I love tacos!!

What has CFV helped you do, achieve?

CFV has impacted many aspects of my life and hard to quantify all the impact points. I have seen benefits from daily life to my athletic life. However, I would say that CFV has insured my longevity to train CrossFit on a regular basis and has set the standard of how boxes should deliver CrossFit to their membership and community.

If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Both of my grandfathers. As a younger man, I did not have a chance to heed their wisdom or ask for their guidance. Now being older, I believe their prospectives and insights would have helped me make better decisions, be more tolerant, a show more patience.

Top three favorite movies.

I have seen so many movies over the years and different movies have had different experiences and memories associated with them. My wife and I enjoy Sci-Fi, watching The Super Mario Bros with my daughter as a Dad and Daughter day was a keeper, and my go to favorite movies are pretty much pretty much anything Viking (Seven Kings Must Die), Operative (Extraction), or Racing (Rush).

What makes you the happiest?

I am learning that there is a difference in happiness. There are two types of happiness; external and internal. I have been driven by external happiness for many years of my life, and now teaching myself to slowing down to develop more internal long-term happiness and peace.

Anything else you want to add?

I truly enjoy training at CFV as the community, coaching staff, and camaraderie is outstanding. On a side note, my wife is retiring from the USAF after 20 years of service in August of 2025. We have been married for 21 years, have a rascal 6 year old beautiful daughter, and have learned that as long as my family and I are gather it tends to always workout for the best.
