Introducing Mayson, our December Member of the Month! Since diving into the world of CrossFit this September, Mayson has been crushing his fitness goals and radiating positivity within our community. Mayson enjoys CrossFit because he finds joy in the pulse-pounding rush of running and the exhilaration of conquering handstand push-ups. Beyond the gym walls, he's a nature fan who thrives on adventures in the great outdoors. How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I started CrossFit officially in September but tried it out a couple times during bring a friend weeks last year thanks to Jordan who really got me hooked.
What's your favorite workout?
For time workouts that involve running are my favorite because I like to stay moving and especially like pushing myself to finish as strong as I can.
What's your favorite movement?
Handstand push-ups are one of my favorites. I’m nowhere near perfecting them but really enjoy the challenge and am happy with the progress I’ve made so I hope to continue improving.
Why do you do CrossFit?
I do CrossFit because I enjoy pushing myself to be stronger and healthier both physically and mentally. Before starting CrossFit I was struggling more than ever to motivate myself to workout regularly. With the CFV community and diversity of workouts it makes it easier for me to stay motivated and committed to showing up for workouts.
What meal could you eat every day for the rest of your life?
I could eat almost anything but one of my favorite meals would have to be chicken parmigiana with pasta and Alfredo sauce. I wouldn’t have any complaints about good Mexican food with margaritas though!
What has CFV helped you do, achieve?
CFV has helped me stay motivated to workout thanks to the great coaches and community it brings along with the diversity of workouts. Many of the movements and workouts we do I would never have pushed myself to try on my own before CrossFit. By always trying new movements and working to improve those that are more challenging for me I find myself achieving goals and making progress every week which is strongly inspired by the team at CFV.
If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why?
My grandpa who passed away before I was born. It would be interesting to meet him and find out more about our family from his perspective and really get to know him better.
Top three favorite movies.
Not usually a big movie watcher but I can always jump right in to any of these: Shrek, Harry Potter, and Pirates of the Caribbean.
What makes you the happiest?
Spending time with family and friends having fun and enjoying the outdoors. I also spend most of my free time raising show pigs and cattle or doing something related to agriculture which genuinely makes me happy most of the time.
Anything else you want to add?
I’m very thankful to have joined CFV when I did and only wish I had done so sooner! I look forward to reaching new goals that I’ve set for myself and seeing the progress myself and others make while at CrossFit. I appreciate all the support and confidence that has been given to me at CFV and hope I can do my part to give back to others the same way.
