Cassie Elbel is our CrossFit Virilis Member of the Month for September! She is awesome, and we love having her frequent the first class of our day and be such a supportive light for all those she is around. Cassie is a mama of five, and she is strong, mighty, funny, and such a go-getter. We love having her in our crew! Get to know more about her, what makes her who she is, her family, and her farm ...below!How long have you been doing CrossFit?A little over a year! What is your favorite workout? My favorite workouts involve running. What is your favorite movement? My favorite movement would be whatever challenges me and I find that I can do it a little bit better than last time. Why do you do CrossFit?CrossFit pushes me to do things I would never do. I’m almost 40 and never lifted weights, so this has been a learning experience from day one. I do this to prove to myself that I can still change and get stronger no matter my age or ability. What meal could you eat every day for the rest of your life?Steak, baked potatoes and salad…but I’m so picky, so it would have to be something my husband or I cooked. What has CFV done for you?CrossFit Virilis continues to challenge me not only physically, but mentally as well. I find myself saying, “no way!” or “I can’t." ...but then coach says put a little more weight on or try this, so I do, and I find that I can! Overcoming mental blocks is as much of a hurdle as physical ones.If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why? I would continue to have dinner and build relationships with my loved ones (family and friends…new and old). I’m at a stage in life where I aspire to enjoy what God has already given me. To find joy and fulfillment in the people He has brought into my life. What are your top three favorite movies? Pride and Prejudice (Kierra Knightly verison)My Big Fat Greek WeddingElfWhat makes you the happiest?Serving others. Seriously, I find happiness in helping others, whether it be completing a task, accomplishing a goal, building a business, cheering on my 5 a.m. peeps, or working on my farm with the family…I love it all! If you know anything about the enneagram, I’m a 2. It’s not the end all be all for people, but it definitely pinned me for this phase of life.Anything else you want to add?The people I have met and continue to meet at CFV are amazing. Everyone has welcomed me with open arms and encouraged me from day one. I’m so thankful to Coach Stef for encouraging me to join and bringing me into the fam. Also, a little bit about me: My husband and I have a farm in La Vernia where we currently raise cows and chickens. We hope to grow our farm into a business and teach people all about clean eating and the beauty of knowing where your food comes from and how important that is! God has given us a desire to learn and teach others about food and we hope to do that with this farm.To learn more about how you can enhance your health and get cheered on by Cassie in the mornings or any time a workout works for you, schedule a time to chat with us.
